Details: While Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has been practiced for decades in Brazil, it was relatively unknown in the United States, up until the early beginnings of the Universal Fighting Championships or more popularly known as the UFC. There, we all witnessed how a 185-pound man competed and dominated against much larger opponents who were trained in various other forms of Martial Arts like karate, Kickboxing, Boxing, Greco-Roman Wrestling, and others. The seeming invincibility of UFC Champion Royce Gracie against bigger, heavier opponents paved the way for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to reach mainstream recognition and interest. To date, all mixed martial arts fighters now incorporate Jiu-Jitsu in their training. Here at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Tulsa, we welcome men and women of all ages as well as children 5 yrs old and up. Details: Primate Jiu Jitsu is conveniently located in the heart of midtown Tulsa across from Promenade Mall at the intersection of 41st and Hwy 44. Though we started with only 900 sq ft of space, we now operate out of a beautiful 5,300 sq ft facility with 1,500 sq ft of mats secured on top of shock-absorbent Judo sub-floors. Accommodations include 5 changing rooms, 2 bathrooms, a shower, a warm-up area, and plenty of seating for parents, friends, and guests. We owe this expansion in part to our amazing students who uphold the standards of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the vision of academy owner Professor Matt Vernon, who sought to cultivate an environment where students would feel welcomed, safe, encouraged, and enjoy an ever-evolving curriculum of top notch martial arts instruction. We offer a variety of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Grappling classes for adults which are held at multiple times throughout the day (early mornings, noon, and evenings).
