Head Professor: John Mckean

Details: John Mckean is founder, head instructor and owner at Combat Arts. John is a 3rd degree Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with over 20 years of training and competition history. Also, a former professional MMA fighter with 15 years of functional cross training for Combat sports. John's passion for Jiu-Jitsu has taken him through out the world and the United States. In 2005 he moved to Brazil to train with one of the founding family's of Jiu-Jitsu, the Gracie family. Spending almost a year training with the family and learning the roots of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In 2006 he moved across the country to Salt Lake City, Utah to train with the legendary Pedro Sauer, a well known Brazilian Black belt that trained extensively with the Gracie family in Brazil. Combat Arts was founded in 2015 and has grown into an amazing community of people who are excited to learn Jiu-Jitsu and change their lives.

Kids Program Detail: Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program is centered around respect, confidence, discipline, and kindness. Kids will learn the basics of Jiu-Jitsu that will enable them to deal with a bully or help them from becoming a bully themselves. They will do this by learning the power of leverage and the proper use of techniques. Our ranking system follows the IBJJF requirements for belts and we are an IBJJF approved school. As a technical guideline with follow the Pedro Sauer association. A new students first class is free. We have uniforms a new student can borrow or they can wear comfortable clothing to their first class.
