Details: At Ataraxis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense in Ambler, husband and wife owners Randy and Laura Aiken have created a welcoming atmosphere for you to start your journey in "the gentle art". The culture of our school approaches learning with energy, enthusiasm and respect. With instructors committed to each student's training and students who encourage and challenge each other, our vision of being school owners with an amazing team has come true. With classes offered in the morning before work, mid-day, in the evenings and on weekends, we have opportunities for every age and ability. Here we celebrate "Peace of Mind through Awareness" as many of our instructors teach both self defense and sport aspects of Jiu Jitsu.

Kids Program Detail: Gracie Jiu Jitsu teaches children the skills to counter aggression with a calm and confident demeanor. Our students will learn how to identify potential dangers to keep themselves safe from harm. They are taught Gracie Jiu Jitsu techniques in a safe, friendly, disciplined atmosphere, with appropriate room for fun, when earned. Students at every age need a plan to neutralize bully aggression as well as develop self-confidence. With classes beginning at ages 5 and up, our students are taught to verbally deescalate any situation with confidence and awareness - if possible. If there is no other option than a physical altercation, the student will posses the self defense techniques to keep them safe. Our favorite Gracie Jiu Jitsu saying is "We don't fight fire with fire, we fight fire with water". Noting the importance of parents being comfortable with where your students are learning, we regularly update our coaches clearances. Many are parents themselves, with children in the classes or waiting to age in.

Woman Only Program Detail: Our Women's Jiu Jitsu class is structured so that we can address situations specific to women's training and outside threatening situations. An empowered mind set and de-escalation tactics as well as technical aspects of Gracie Jiu Jitsu will allow our female students to develop a well rounded self defense skill set in a calm, non threatening atmosphere.
