Abmar Barbossa Jiu-Jitsu Academy is located in Northern Virginia outside Washington, DC. It is named after its owner and operator, a well-known athlete with dozens of titles to his name. The Academy provides a variety of classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for different skill levels—from general fitness and self-defense methods to high-level competition - in a comfortable, professional environment. Our instructors regularly keep up with the newest techniques so as to share them with our students in a detail- and goal-oriented manner. Kids Program Detail: At Abmar Barbosa Jiu Jitsu Academy, we are dedicated to providing top-notch martial arts training for your child in a supportive and enjoyable setting. A key aspect of our mission is instilling the core values of martial arts in our students. Our youth program was initiated by Maria Malyjasiak, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and accomplished international competitor, back in 2017. As the program has expanded from 2 students to over 90, Marysia has continuously refined and adapted it. With a Master's degree from the University of Gdansk and over a decade of experience working with young athletes, she leads the way. We offer classes for: Beginner Kids (ages 3-5), Beginner Kids (ages 6-14, Advanced Kids (ages 9-14, gray-white belts and up). Under the guidance of our instructors, who are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champions at national and international levels, your child will not only learn martial arts but also enhance their balance, coordination, and motor skills, which are beneficial for any sport they may pursue. Moreover, our instructors prioritize instilling essential life skills like confidence, discipline, dedication, teamwork, and respect, which are transferable to academic and personal success.
