Details: Valkyrie BJJ Academy is dedicated to teaching effective self-defense techniques to people at all experience levels. We train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which focuses on taking down an attacker and/or defending yourself after being taken down to the ground. Many attacks end up with one or both people on the ground. If you are ever in this situation, it will be critical for you to defend yourself against punches, kicks, and other attacks. BJJ is designed for people of any size. The basic principle is to control your distance from an attacker, thereby controlling how much damage you take from him or her. Additionally, jiu-jitsu uses leverage and timing to overcome strength and speed, allowing a smaller person to defend themselves against a larger attacker.
