Kids Program Detail: Parkersburg Jiu-jitsu Academy Kids Martial Arts classes are a great way to build a foundation for our students that will lead to a bright, successful future! Our Kids Martial Arts classes are designed to impart valuable life skills to our students from self-defense to stranger danger, to confidence and goal-setting. The primary focus of our Kids Martial Arts class is to develop fundamental techniques, and create a solid foundation to build upon in the older years. Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are a highly effective and comprehensive system of standing and ground defense techniques utilizing rules of leverage. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers the ability for a smaller person to learn principles of leverage that will assist them in defending against or defeating a larger opponent, as well as a tremendous workout for children regardless of their athletic ability. At Parkersburg Jiu-Jitsu Academy our kids classes are divided by age group, starting with our Little Cobras (ages 4-6), Youth Fundamentals (ages 7-11), Jr. Combatives (ages 12-16). Our youth classes derive their name from Master Sauer's nickname he received from Grandmaster Helio Gracie, Cobrinha "Cobra".

Woman Only Program Detail: Our women's only program is based on the techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. This is a stand alone program or a great compliment to our fundamental classes. We will teach you to neutralize the most common attacks ranging from having your hair grabbed to being pinned to the ground. Unlike many self defense systems that rely on strength, speed, and athleticism, the techniques of Jiu-Jitsu employ leverage, timing, and technique. This allows students, regardless of age or athleticism, to apply the techniques to larger stronger opponents. Beyond the physical techniques you will also learn principles of awareness, verbal strategies, and the mindset and belief that you are worth protecting!
